WUPJ

World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ) is the umbrella organization of Reform, Progressive and Liberal Judaism, working in more than 43 countries throughout the world.

The work of WUPJ includes:

  • Establishing and nurturing synagogues in Israel, the former Soviet Union, Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern and Western Europe;
  • Striving for social justice, affirming Jewish identity and pursuing equal rights;
  • Training future religious and educational leaders and giving them the necessary support in their community efforts; and
  • Guiding Jews from isolation and persecution into a new era of freedom.

WRJ is the women’s affiliate of the World Union, and is represented on its governing body and North American Board. WRJ has the responsibility to raise a share of the WUPJ budget. This goal can be met by sisterhoods and individuals sending contributions to WRJ earmarked for WUPJ.

Note:  Sisterhoods are encouraged to budget for a level of participation for World Union support commensurate with their own membership size, contributing, through special fund raising efforts, additional funds for plus giving.
